Hi! I'm Megan Toohey. In 2014 I took my lifelong passion for photography and my desire to create heirloom quality portraiture from dream to reality by opening my photography business.
As a child I had a little 12mm camera, my favorite thing in the world. I loved running around and taking pictures. My first babysitting job produced enough money to upgrade to a 35mm camera that became my newest addiction. I couldn't wait to develop the film and see what I had captured! I kept each of these images for many many years as each one was a treasure in my mind...a moment captured. When a childhood home caught on fire, the only things my family could grab on our way out were some pictures. We were so happy we had enough time to save them since they are the only things left to document the passage of time. They can't be replaced, retaken, and in most cases remade. I still have one of them, which was passed down to my mother then to me, hanging on my wall today!
My most prized possession is still my camera. Some things never change! I believe in constantly growing, learning and improving. I take every opportunity I have to further my knowledge, imagination and ability. I truly enjoy learning new and different techniques from others.
My life is full of so much joy! I am blessed with a wonderful, supportive husband, Jim. He helps me immeasurably in both business and life. He is my confidant, partner, the father of my children, and my best friend. We have 3 incredible children, Shane is 20, Kaitlyn 18 and Matt is 10 years old. I still feel like I remember every moment the day Shane was born, glimpses of him in my mind, over time and when he graduated in 2016 I simply could not believe that he was already leaving for college! I was a mess, both incredibly proud of the intelligent, driven young adult he has become, yet at the same time heartbroken as I felt like I was loosing a piece of myself when he moved away to college. Kaitlyn has also grown, all too quickly, from the funny, fearless, energetic little spark into an imaginative, exquisite, clever young lady who will be ready to follow in her older brother's footsteps all too soon, in my opinion. And my baby, Matt. My serious, kind, thoughtful little man is already halfway to adulthood. I always thought that saying about children growing up so fast was cliche, but, at this point in my life, I am still stunned at how true it is! I wake up each morning and I am so thankful to have this marvelous family and get to do what I love for a living. I believe in giving back and happily volunteer my time and services to several commendable organizations as well.
My goals include making portraiture a special time where people feel beautiful, loved, treasured, enjoy each other and create memories. Once my clients see their gorgeous portraits, I love to see their faces light up with excitement when they realize how stunning they are, how sweet and tiny their newborn is for such a short time, what a beautiful young lady or gentleman their teenager has grown into, how perfect their family is. We know how quickly time passes, children grow. I feel like we blink and our little babies become full grown seniors ready to go out into this world and be the incredible people we have raised them to be. Portraits are how we hold on to these treasured memories in between.
Children who grow up seeing their portraits displayed have a higher self esteem. Teenagers experiencing confidence issues really blossom when they enjoy our sessions and glow when they see their amazing images. New mothers, aside from being exhausted, sometimes question if their bodies will ever be the same and I love to see their eyes fill with tears when they see how gorgeous they are, and the connection, love and appreciation bestowed on them by their infant and family. I strive to make each session a beautiful experience that you walk away from with fond memories and amazing, timeless wall art that you will love and treasure for many years until you pass them down for your children to cherish.
